Alright, Palouse people! We’ve got a good one this week. Lots of exciting things happening. I want to highlight two exciting opportunities for you to get out there and connect with our wonderful communities.
In fact, I just had a meeting this week with Pullman’s Mayor, Francis Benjamin, and he shared such an inspiring vision for building deeper connections in our community and promoting ways to build a better future for our cities.
Pullman To-Go & Gather: A Community Table Event
This event is going to a be a ton of fun and is a really fresh way to bring people together. The city is encouraging people to get take-out from their favorite restaurant and bring their meal to gather around one big table downtown.
Did you ever watch that show Parenthood. I loved that show. Every episode ended with a big family meal around a table under bistro lights. In my mind, it’s gonna feel something like that.

The city has asked people to be table hosts to encourage lively conversation, and I’m here for it. My family plans to be there.
The Latah County Fair
Last week, my family got to attend the Palouse Empire Fair and Rodeo. It was a blast! I always love the fair because it’s a great reminder that there’s an entire part of our community that lives completely different lives compared with the higher-ed / tech crowd, and they’re an essential part of life for all of us. Our towns were built in part by agriculture, and it’s so fun to see the pride of the agricultural community.
So get out there and experience the fair this weekend at the Latah County Fairgrounds.
Plus, entry to the fair is completely free. Carnival rides are $1 each or you can get 50 tickets for $45.
