This is a quick one this week, but I wanted to highlight a couple of opportunities to serve your community. If you know of other charitable events happening this fall, I’d love to hear about them. You can email me here or DM me on Instagram.

DS Connections Northwest

This past Saturday, my family and I had the opportunity to go serve at the annual Step Up for Down Syndrome walk put on by a great non-profit called DS Connections.

DS Connections exists to connect and support families who have kids with Down Syndrome and being part of this event was such a blessing for our family.

Here’s a bit more about DS Connections from the founder:

“Our organization serves hundreds of families, individuals and the professionals who support them. Centrally located in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene area with our outreach stretching north to Sandpoint and Boundary county, and south to the Quad city area of Pullman, Moscow, Lewiston and Clarkston.

We are excited about this opportunity to connect and share resources, services, and knowledge that exist in all of our local communities. Above all, it is a joy and privilege to come together to share relationships and resources as friends, family, community members, and neighbors in a shared common bond of Down syndrome.”

They have another Step Up For Down Syndrome walk happening this Saturday in Genesee. It’s not too late to register to support this cause. You can find more information HERE, and you can register HERE.

The Lauren McCluskey Foundation’s Race for Campus Safety

This event is an opportunity for the community to connect and raise awareness about the ways we can all work together to create a safer experience for students on campus.

Inspired by Lauren McCluskey’s life and legacy, the race brings together students, families, advocates, and campus communities in a shared commitment to systemic change.

Participants can run or walk a variety of distances from 1k for the kids all the way up to 10k of hilly running around campus.

The event is on October 4th. You can find out more and register here.
